Emergency Guidance While in Canada
#TAYLORMADE
We want everyone to feel safe and prepared while celebrating with us. Here are a few quick tips to help you navigate any unexpected situations during your stay in Canada.
- Emergency Numbers
Dial 9-1-1 for all emergencies (medical, police, fire). It works just like it does in the U.S. - Medical Care
Canada has excellent hospitals and urgent care clinics. Visitors are accepted, but U.S. insurance may not cover everything.Bring your:
– Health insurance card
– Photo ID
– Credit/debit card for any out-of-pocket costs.
– For non-urgent needs, walk-in clinics are widely available in Niagara Falls. - Communication Tips
Confirm your phone plan includes international roaming or add a temporary travel pass. Save a few key contacts in your phone:
– Your hotel
– A wedding party contact
– U.S. Consulate (Toronto) - Passport & Border Support
Keep your passport in a secure but easily accessible place. If your passport is lost or stolen: contact the U.S. Consulate in Toronto for an emergency passport. - Roadside Assistance
If driving, AAA members are usually covered through CAA (Canada’s version of AAA). Keep rental car insurance and agreements handy. - Medications & Prescriptions
Pack medications in their original bottles. Local pharmacies (Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall) can assist with many needs. Some prescriptions can be transferred or re-issued through walk-in clinics. - Weather & Outdoor Safety
Niagara Falls weather can shift quickly. Carry comfortable shoes, a light jacket, and a poncho — especially for waterfall and boat excursions. - Lost Items
Lost passport → U.S. Consulate
Lost luggage → your airline (keep baggage claim info)
Lost wallet → local police + notify your bank
